Scriptures

Can I tell you why it matters to me that scriptures were preserved?

Alma 37:8 “preserved…(and) enlarged the memory…convinced many of the error of their ways, and brought them to a knowledge of their God”
o Cool, but awesome, because there is POWER!!!!

There is Power in the principles…
Marion G. Romney, CES Symposium, August 1979; and Ensign, Sept. 1980, 4
One cannot honestly study the scriptures without learning gospel principles, because the scriptures have been written to preserve principles for our benefit.

Hugh Nibley, Prolegomena to Any Study of the Book of Abraham, BYU STUDIES
It is said that when the Chinese in their first naval encounters with Europeans found their ships no match for steamboats, they proceeded to erect funnels on the decks of their junks, in which they would burn straw, thus rivaling he formidable appearance of the enemy. The mock steamboats no doubt satisfied the Chinese and made a fine impression as long as they did not have to come up against real steamboats…

o So, is there just HEAT AND SMOKE in my scripture study or is there power
--> Do i carry my scriputres in my hands or in my heart.
--> More importantly is it a burden i carry... that i feel i have to shoulder again,
and again... is it HARD.... or does my scripture study carry me?
